Who We Serve

Our students are managing complex lives, so City Colleges of Chicago provides resources both in and out of the classroom so that students can focus on their studies and be successful. 

In fact, in a 2024 survey of City Colleges students, respondents reported:  

  • 69% face at least one form of basic needs insecurity (food insecurity, housing insecurity, or homelessness) 
  • 50% reported food insecurity  
  • 59% reported housing insecurity  
  • 16% reported experiencing homelessness

Students face any number of unexpected financial crises that threaten to derail their education. A car repair, change in employment status, getting behind on rent, or worrying about a next meal can cause a student to struggle to stay focused in class. You can help us provide more resources for students, including hot meals, emergency expense funding, grocery store gift cards, expanded food pantries, and more.
